One Touch Transfer (Dubbing) (VHS l DVD)

You can transfer (dub) programmes recorded on a tape onto a disc° with one stroke of the button.

In One Touch Transfer (Dubbing), programmes are automatically transferred (dubbed) onto the disc from the location of playback at the time when the transfer (dubbing) of the tape starts.

°Available discs for transfer (dubbing) from tape are [RAM] [-R][-RW‹V›] [+R].

Preparation

Select the unit viewing channel (e.g. AV input) on the TV.

VHS (Recording source)

Press [VHS].

Insert the video cassette containing the programme to be copied. (l 48)

Press [AUDIO] to select the audio you wish to record.

Stop the tape at the position where you wish to start recording.

DVD (Recording target) Press [DVD].

Release protection. (disc l 28, cartridge l 28) [RAM]

Insert a disc and confirm there is sufficient empty space for recording on it. (l 8, 47)

Select the recording mode. (l 23)

Settings (l 42, TV System)

When transferring (dubbing) an NTSC tape to a DVD

-Set “TV System” on “Connection” in SETUP to “NTSC”. When transferring (dubbing) a PAL tape to a DVD

-Set “TV System” on “Connection” in SETUP to “PAL”.

[1]While both DVD and VHS are stopped

Press and hold [DVD, DUBBING] for about 3 seconds or more (until “START” on the unit’s display terminates flashing).

On the main unit, press [DVD].

Check if transferring (dubbing) starts properly. The “DUBBING” indicator on the main unit

lights.

Transferring (Dubbing) is automatically

completed when the tape reaches its end or the disc becomes full.

To stop transfer (dubbing) in the middle

Press [, STOP] or press and hold [RETURN] for about 3 seconds or more.

Note

You cannot operate for transferring (dubbing) while timer recording standby on both DVD and VHS. Cancel the timer recording standby.

When the transfer (dubbing) is not started or not executed, the “DUBBING” indicator blinks for about 7 seconds. Check if the unit is properly prepared.

Dividing a title to be transferred (dubbed)

When transferring (dubbing) from VHS to DVD, the title is divided by index signal (l 54) detected and then recorded. You can search desired titles with Direct Navigator (l 31) after transfer (dub) to DVD.

Titles recorded within 15 minutes of each other may not be divided properly.

The recording time may become longer than the original title depending on the number of index signals.

If you want to transfer (dub) without dividing the contents into titles, follow the methods below.

Set “Time Setting” to “On” on the GUI Transfer (l 58). Manual Transfer (l 59).
