Using the FM/AM radio

Manual tuning

1 Press [EXT-IN, FM/AM] 1 (or [FM/AM] 2) to select “FM” or “AM”.

2 Press [-PLAY MODE] (main unit: [7 , −DEMO]) to select “MANUAL”.

3 Press [1 , SLOW/SEARCH] or [¡, SLOW/SEARCH] to select the frequency of the required station.

Press and hold [1, SLOW/SEARCH] or [¡, SLOW/SEARCH] until the frequency starts scrolling to start automatic tuning. Tuning stops when a station is found.

To improve FM sound quality

Press and hold [-PLAY MODE] to display “MONO”.

Monaural sound is selected and noise reduces when reception is weak.

Press and hold [-PLAY MODE] again to cancel the mode. “MONO” is also cancelled if the frequency is changed.

AM allocation setting (by main unit only) 2

This system can also receive AM broadcasts allocated in 10 kHz steps in addition to the 9 kHz steps.

To change the step from 9 kHz to 10 kHz

1 Select “FM”.

2 Press and hold [FM/AM].

After a few seconds the display changes to a flashing display of the current minimum frequency.

3 Continue to hold down [FM/AM].

When the minimum frequency changes, release the button. To return to the original step, repeat the above steps.

After changing the setting, previously preset frequency will be cleared.

Memory preset

30 FM and 15 AM stations can be preset.

Preparation

Press [EXT-IN, FM/AM]1 (or [FM/AM]2) to select “FM” or “AM”.

Manual presetting

1 While listening to the radio broadcast Press [OK].

2 While the frequency is flashing on the display Press the numeric buttons to select a channel.

For channels 10 to 30 press [10], then the two digits.

Alternatively, press [4, 4] or [¢, 3], then press [OK].

The station occupying a channel is erased if another station is preset to that channel.

Automatic presetting

Press and hold [OK].

Release the button when “FM AUTO” or “AM AUTO” is

displayed.

 

The tuner tunes to the lowest frequency and starts to preset all the

 

stations it can receive into the channels in ascending order.

 

• “SET OK” is displayed when the stations are set, and the radio tunes

 

to the last preset station.

 

• “ERROR” is displayed when automatic presetting is unsuccessful.

The unit can display the text data transmitted by the radio data system (RDS) available in some areas.

If the station you are listening to is transmitting RDS signals, “RDS” will light up on the display.
