Formatting a Disc

Use these instructions to format (erase) a disc. The cartridge write protect tab should be set to the unprotect position. The disc protect should also be cleared.

1	With the unit in Stop mode / playback mode, press
	the ANYKEY button.
		Search
		Scene Navigation
		Time Navigation
		Marker
		Rec. Mode	√
		Select Tray	√
		Disc Manager

	Press the …† buttons to select Disc Manager, then
2 press the ENTER or √ button.

		DVD-RAM(VR)
		Disc Name
		Used Space				00 : 04 : 30
		Available Space				02 : 08 SP
		Disc Protection Info				Not Protected
		Disc Cartridge Info				Not Protected
		Rename		Protection			Delete All		Format
			MOVE			SELECT		RETURN	EXIT
3	Press the œ √ buttons to select Format, then press the
	ENTER button.
								Disc Manager
		DVD-RAM(VR)
			Do you want to format this disc?
					Yes		No
			MOVE			SELECT		RETURN	EXIT
	DVD-RAM

•You will be prompted with the confirmation message “Do you want to format this disc?”.

•If you select Yes, you will be prompted with the confirmation message “All data will be deleted. Do you want to continue?”.

DVD-RW

•You will be prompted with the confirmation message “Choose the recording format for DVD- RW.”

Disc Manager

DVD-RAM(VR)

Choose the recording format for DVD-RW.

DVD-VR DVD-V

		Protection
			MOVE SELECT RETURN	EXIT
4	Press the œ √ buttons to select Yes, then press the
	ENTER button. The disc is formatted.
			DVD-VR		DVD-V
	DISC		DVD-RAM	DVD-RW
			DVD-RW		DVD-R

DVD-VR and DVD-V are defined according to their recording format.

	■	Discs created in DVD-VR mode can only
		be played in DVD recorders.
NOTE
		Discs created in DVD-V mode can be
		played on all standard DVD players.

Delete All Title Lists

1	With the unit in Stop mode / playback mode, press
	the ANYKEY button.
