INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Operator: Save these instructions for future use!

FAILURE TO READ AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLING OR OPERATING THIS CONTROL COULD CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.

DESCRIPTION

Mercury flame sensors are used in pilot burners to detect the presence of the pilot flame. If the pilot flame is not burning or is insufficient to properly ignite the main burner, the flame sensor will prevent the flow of gas to the main burner.

The bulb configuration and method of mounting the sensor to the pilot burner is designed for use with F10 pilot burners only. This is not a universal replacement. The 3049-41 sensor can only be used to replace the identical type in applications where it was originally installed by the equipment manufacturer. If the mercury flame sensor you are replacing is not the same type number, contact the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for a suggested replacement.

This control is a precision instrument and should be handled carefully. Rough handling or distorting compo- nents could cause the control to malfunction.

!CAUTION

To prevent electrical shock and/or equipment damage, disconnect electric power to the sys- tem at the main fuse or circuit breaker box until installation is complete.

Label all wires prior to disconnection when ser- vicing controls. Wiring errors can cause improper and dangerous operation.

PRECAUTIONS

!CAUTION

Following installation or replacement, follow ap- pliance manufacturer's recommended installa- tion and/or service instructions to insure proper operation.

!WARNING

Do not use on circuits exceeding specified volt- age. Higher voltage will damage control and could cause shock or fire hazard.

ATTENTION!

This product contains mercury. There will not be any exposure to mercury under normal conditions of use. This product may replace a unit which contains mercury. Do not open mercury cells. If a cell becomes damaged, do not touch any spilled mercury. Wearing nonabsorbent gloves, take up the spilled mercury with sand or other absorbent material and place into a container which can be sealed. If a cell becomes damaged, the unit should be discarded.
