WM Configuration

TTo play back an HTTP stream using .asx:

Launch the player directly from the IWS by clicking the Click here to play HTTP. This is a good way for the WM Appliance administrator to easily view the stream when adjusting various encoder parameters via the IWS.

Right-click on Click here to play HTTP and select Save Target As to write the HTTP

.asx file to your computer. You can then double click the .asx file to launch the player and play the HTTP stream. E-mail the HTTP .asx file or make it available on a shared network drive to allow other viewers to play the HTTP stream.

Play the HTTP stream from an embedded player in a web page or from a standalone

player or browser using the URL <http://vbrickipaddress/vbs1http.asx>. (The WM

Appliance serves the HTTP .asx file via HTTP.) The URL to the multicast .asx for Slot 2

of a dual WM Appliance is <http://vbrickipaddress/vbs2http.asx>.

Use VBrick's StreamPlayer product to add an automatic program guide to Windows Media Player so when you run StreamPlayer it will automatically list all the WM programs available on your network. The user can then click on a program to launch Windows Media Player to play the stream. (The WM Appliance can send network announcements of the HTTP stream using SAP (Session Announcement Protocol).)

TTo stream RTSPU without using .asx:

Use the RTSPU URL shown in IWS (for example rtspu://vbrickipaddress/vbrickvideo1). You can use File > Open URL in Windows Media Player to play the URL or you can create a web page with an embedded player and a link to the RTSPU URL.

TTo stream RTSPU using .asx:

Launch the player directly from the IWS by clicking Click here to play RTSPU. This is a good way for the WM Appliance administrator to easily view the stream when adjusting various encoder parameters via the IWS.

Right-click on Click here to play RTSP and select Save Target As to write the RTSPU

.asx file to your computer. You can then double click the .asx file to launch the player and play the RTSP stream. E-mail the RTSP .asx file or make it available on a shared network drive to allow other viewers to play the RTSP stream.

Play the RTSP stream from an embedded player in a web page or from a standalone

player using the URL <http://vbrickipaddress/vbs1rtsp.asx>. (The WM Appliance

serves the RTSP .asx file via HTTP.) The URL to the multicast .asx for Slot2 of a dual

WM Appliance is <http://vbrickipaddress/vbs2rtsp.asx>.

Use VBrick's StreamPlayer product to add an automatic program guide to Windows Media Player so when you run StreamPlayer it will automatically list all the WM programs available on your network. The user can then click on a program to launch Windows Media Player to play the stream. (The WM Appliance can send network announcements of the HTTP stream using the Session Announcement Protocol.)

Announce HTTP and RTSPU Server

You can optionally send network announcements using a SAP (Session Announcement Protocol) that provides information about the multicast and unicast streams created by your VBrick WM Appliance. Other VBrick products such as EthernetTV and StreamPlayer can use the SAPs to automatically create program listings to allow viewers easy access to the streams from the VBrick. Use the Announce HTTP and RTSPU section to enable/disable SAPs and to control the destination address and other parameters for the announcement
