SAFETY GUIDELINES - DEFINITIONS

This manual contains information that is important for you to know and understand. This information relates to protecting YOUR SAFETY and PREVENTING EQUIPMENT PROBLEMS. To help you recog- nize this information, we use the symbols below. Please read the manual and pay attention to these sections.

indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in death or serious injury.

indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury.

indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in minor or moderate injury.

used without the safety alert symbol indicates potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in property damage.

Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling, and other construction activities contains chemicals known (to the State of California) to

cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Some example of these chemicals are:

lead from lead-based paints

crystalline silica from bricks and cement and other masonry products

arsenic and chromium from chemically-treated lumber

Your risk from these exposures varies, depending on how often you do this type of work. To reduce your exposure to these chemicals: work in a well ventilated area, and work with approved safety equipment, always wear MSHA/NIOSH approved, properly fitting face mask or respirator when using such tools.

GENERAL SAFETY RULES

READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL WARNINGS AND OPERATING INSTRUC- TIONS BEFORE USING THIS EQUIPMENT. Failure to follow all instructions listed below, may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious personal injury or property damage.

SAVE! IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS SAVE!

WORK AREA

1.Keep your work area clean and well lit. Cluttered benches and dark areas invite accidents.

2.Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks, which may ignite the dust or fumes.

3.Keep bystanders, children, and visitors away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

1.Double insulated tools are equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still

does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install a polarized outlet. Do

not change the plug in any way. Double Insulated eliminates the need for the three wire grounded power cord and grounded power supply system.

2.Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is grounded.

3.Don’t expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.

735 specifications

The Porter-Cable 735 is a versatile and robust thickness planer that has become a go-to tool for both professional woodworkers and DIY enthusiasts alike. Designed to handle a variety of wood types, the 735 excels in providing a smooth and precise finish, making it an essential addition to any workshop.

One of the standout features of the Porter-Cable 735 is its powerful 15-amp motor, which delivers an impressive 20,000 RPM. This high-speed operation enables the planer to tackle even the toughest hardwood, effortlessly removing material while ensuring a consistent finish. With a maximum cutting width of 12 inches and a cutting depth capacity of up to 1/8 inch, users can easily work with larger pieces of lumber, making it suitable for various woodworking projects.

The 735 utilizes a dual-blade design that enhances performance and provides a smooth surface with reduced tear-out. The reversible blades offer extended life, allowing users to switch them when one side becomes dull, reducing downtime and increasing efficiency. Additionally, the tool features a three knife cutter head design that provides a finer finish with minimal effort, ensuring that the results meet the high standards of any woodworking project.

Another significant characteristic of the Porter-Cable 735 is its integrated infeed and outfeed tables. These tables help to support longer workpieces, reducing the risk of snipe, a common issue where the ends of the boards can be cut unevenly. The tables are adjustable, allowing for seamless transitions during operation, which leads to a professional quality finish.

Porter-Cable has also incorporated advanced technology in the 735, including a built-in depth adjustment knob that allows for micro-adjustments, facilitating precise control over the cut depth. This feature adds to the tool's overall ease of use, making it accessible for beginners while still providing the functionality that seasoned woodworkers expect.

The portable design of the 735, combined with its lightweight construction, ensures that it can be easily transported and maneuvered around different job sites. With its durable build quality, the Porter-Cable 735 is designed to withstand the rigors of daily use, ensuring longevity and reliability.

In summary, the Porter-Cable 735 thickness planer combines power, precision, and innovative features, making it an invaluable tool for anyone serious about woodworking.
