12.0Troubleshooting the PM2800B Drill Press

Trouble

Drill press will not start (power light is OFF).

Drill press will not start (power light is ON).

Drill press does not come up to speed.

Motor stalls.

Noisy Operation.

Wood splinters on underside of work piece.

Drill or tool heats up or burns work piece.

Drill bit wanders.

Drill bit binds in work piece.

Probable Cause

Remedy

 

Not connected to power.

Check all plug connections.

 

Fuse blown, or circuit breaker tripped.

Replace fuse, or reset circuit breaker.

Cord damaged.

Replace cord.

 

Safety key removed.

Install safety key.

 

Switch malfunction.

Have switch tested and

replaced if

needed.

 

 

 

 

 

Extension cord too light or too long.

Replace with adequate size and length

Low current.
