If you insert a blank CD-R or CD-RW, use RecordNow to copy audio or data files.

If you insert a blank DVD, a program opens for you to use to record to the disc. See “Using the CD-RW Drive” on page 61.

Using the

DVD+RW/+R Drive

The DVD+RW/+R drive is available on select models only.

The DVD+RW/+R drive plays movie DVDs and music CDs, reads data CDs and DVDs, and records files to DVD+RW, DVD+R, CD-R, and CD-RW discs.

Note: There are two types of DVD discs: DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW. DVD-R and DVD-RW discs do not work in the DVD+RW/+R drive.

The guide for this drive is printed and included in the computer box (select models).

Playing Video CDs

You can play MPEG (Motion Picture Experts Group) videos. These MPEG-1 files have a

.dat or .mpg extension.

To play a video CD, insert the CD into a CD drive or a DVD drive, and use either Windows Media Player or WinDVD program. Refer to “Using Windows Media Player“ on page 59, or to “Using the WinDVD Control Panel“ on page 64.

Using HP Pavilion PC Tools	Tasks
The HP Pavilion PC Tools folder in the
	Common
All Programs/Hewlett-Packard menu contains
special utilities for HP Pavilion owners. For
example, you’ll find a utility for displaying
system information. This folder also contains
the HP Tour Guide and any onscreen guides
included with your PC.
