Unbalanced 1/4” wiring can be done with either a two- or three-conductor (TS or TRS) plug. A two-conductor (TS) plug automatically grounds the signal negative input, whereas a three-conductor (TRS) plug, wired unbalanced, provides the option of leaving the negative input open or grounded. We recommend that you ground the unused negative input (this can be done by wiring the ring and sleeve of the TRS plug together).

The TRS input is summed through a balanced input amplifier with the XLR input, allowing both inputs to be used simultaneously. Input specifications apply to both.

3.PRODUCT SPECIFICATION: This label contains the model and specification information.

4.SUB-FREQUENCY VENT PORT: This port aids in reproduction of very low frequencies by discharging frequencies below 30Hz.

5.VOLUME CONTROL: Use the volume control to set the output sound pressure from the BX8a to proper levels as required.

6.POWER RECEPTACLE: Accepts a detachable 3-circuit line cord in order to power the monitor.

7.FUSE HOLDER: Holds the external main fuse.

8.VOLTAGE-SELECT SWITCH: Provides two selections, 115V AC and 230V AC, and should be set to match the “house supply” (receptacle) voltage of the country or location in which the speaker is used. The 115V setting is correct for the USA and Japan, while the 230V setting is correct for most of the UK and Europe.

BX8a specifications

The M-Audio BX8a is a popular studio monitor designed for musicians, producers, and audio engineers who seek accuracy and clarity in their sound reproduction. This speaker is part of the BX series, known for providing incredible performance at a relatively affordable price point. With a sleek design and impressive features, the BX8a has become a staple in many home and professional studios.

One of the standout characteristics of the M-Audio BX8a is its impressive 8-inch bi-amped woofer that delivers deep and rich low frequencies. This driver is designed to handle a wide range of audio signals while maintaining clarity, ensuring that bass-heavy genres are accurately represented. Complementing the woofer is a 1-inch silk dome tweeter that extends the high-frequency response, providing a smooth and detailed sound up to 22 kHz. The combination of these drivers allows for a balanced audio experience across all frequency ranges.

The BX8a also features a bi-amplified design, which means that it utilizes separate amplifiers for the woofer and tweeter. This bi-amping technology minimizes distortion and enhances overall sound quality, allowing users to hear their mixes with greater precision. The total power output of 130 watts ensures that the monitors can fill a room without sacrificing audio fidelity.

Another significant feature of the BX8a is its rear-firing bass reflex port. This design element allows for improved low-frequency extension and reproduction without compromising clarity. The port design minimizes turbulence, providing a cleaner bass response, which is crucial for accurate mixing and mastering.

M-Audio has incorporated various acoustic tuning controls on the rear of the BX8a, allowing users to tailor the speakers to their specific environment. With adjustable high and low-frequency filters, users can adapt the monitor's characteristics to compensate for room acoustics, ensuring that mixes translate well across different playback systems.

The M-Audio BX8a also exhibits a robust build quality, designed to withstand the demands of daily studio use. Its modern aesthetic and compact design allow it to fit comfortably in various studio setups, while its rugged enclosure helps reduce unwanted resonance.

In conclusion, the M-Audio BX8a is an excellent choice for anyone looking to enhance their audio production experience. With its powerful drivers, bi-amped technology, and customizable acoustic controls, it delivers a balanced and precise sound that can help creators achieve professional results in their music and audio projects.
