TERMS

IP Mode: Static vs. DHCP

DHCP: (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) address is the most common setup for home or office networks. This allows the DVR to automatically receive an IP address from the router. By default the IP MODE should be set to DHCP and this is acceptable in most situations.

static IP: is one that does not change. Static IP addresses are manually assigned by an administrator. Most home or office networks today do not use static IP addresses. If you are unsure of whether you need a static or dynamic IP address, please contact the person who setup your network or your internet service provider (ISP). A static IP address would be beneficial if your internal IP address changes often.
