The Belt

When to Replace

Disconnect cleaner form electrical outlet before checking or replacing belt.

To check belt, remove the bottom plate (see following section).

If the belt is stretched, cut, broken, or if the agitator brushes are being replaced, replace the belt.

How to Replace

Turn cleaner over.

Release worn belt from pulley.

Remove bottom plate by releasing latches.

 

Lift out agitator, remove old belt and place new belt in groove of agitator.

Replace agitator by aligning the projection, located on one end of the agitator, with the slot in the wall of the cleaner base.

Then push the agitator down into position.

Place belt on pulley.

Replace bottom plate, by putting knobs on front

Check to see that latches are pushed back and will not

Position bottom plate over agitator and latch securely.

Use only genuine HOOVER belts with your cleaner.

When purchasing a new belt, ask for HOOVER part No. 44783.
