Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed,including the following:

Please read and understand all instructions carefully before usingthe unit.

To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock or injury:

uDo not leave appliance when plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before servicing.

uUse indoors only. Do not use on wet surfaces.

uDo not store outdoors or on wet surfaces. To prevent trip- ping accidents, store vacuum after each use.

uThis appliance is not intended for use by persons (includ- ing children) with reduced physical sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concern- ing use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

uIf the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.

uUse only as described in this manual. Use only manufac- turer’s recommended attachments.

uDo not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, is left outdoors, dropped into water or is damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to any authorized service facility.

uDo not pull or carry by cord, do not use cord as a handle, do not close a door on cord or pull cord around sharp edges or corners, do not run appliance over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.

uDo not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.

uDo not handle plug or appliance with wet hands.

uDo not put any object into unit openings. Do not use with any openings blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.

uKeep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body

away from openings and moving parts.

uUse extra caution when cleaning on stairs.

uDo not vacuum any electrical appliances while they are plugged in.

uDo not use this product to pick up sharp objects, metallic debris or large, solid objects (i.e., rocks or pebbles), as product damage may result.

uDo not use to pick up any liquids, toxic substances, flam- mable or combustible liquids such as gasoline or use in areas where they may be present.

uDo not use this product while standing in water or on wet surfaces.

uDo not vacuum burning or smoking materials, such as lit cigarette butts, matches or hot ashes.

uDo not use on or near hot surfaces. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.

uDo not use without dirt bowl and filters in place.

uUsing improper voltage may result in damage to the motor and possible injury to the user. Correct voltage is listed on the rating label.

IMPORTANT:This appliance is intended for household use only and not for commercial or industrial use.

CAUTION!The motor of the appliance is fitted with a thermal safeguard. This device automatically switches the appliance off in case of overheating. If this occurs proceed as follows:

uSwitch the appliance off and remove the plug from the wall socket.

uAllow the unit to cool. When the unit has cooled down, check and clean the filters.

uRe-insert the plug in the wall socket and switch the appli- ance on.
