Appropriate containers and coverings help ~lssure good cooking results.

Always use microwave-safe containers and cover them with lids or vented plastic wrap. Wonder if it’s microwave safe’? Put it to the test described in the Microwtiving Tips section.

Never use tight-sealing plastic covers—theycan prevent ste~un from esc~lping [uld c:luse food to overcook.

Match the amount of food to the size of the container. Fill containers :lt least h~df fLIll for best results.

Be sure the outside of the cooking container and the inside of the microwave oven are dry beiore placing food in the oven. Beads of moisture turning into steam cun misle~ld the sensor.

Stir or rotate some foods after a beeping signal, if required. See Automatic Cooking Control Guide and recipes on the following pages.

Use nlicrow~lve-safe casseroles or bowls for entrees :ind vegetables. Cover with lids that fit. If lids are not available, use plastic wrap or wax p~lper. Plastic wrtip should be vented over food to idlow for escaping steam. Seal by pressing plastic wr:lp firmly around edges.

For frozen entrees in paperboard tr~lys, remove tray from box but do not remove film over tray. Thick entrees may take longer to cook-see the Automatic Cooking Control Guide.

For trozen foods in metal trays, remove foil covering and baked goods, reinsert tray into box and close ends of box.

Use oblong or square cont:tiners for chicken or corn on the cob. Plastic wrap covering should be vented over food to UIIOW for escaping steam. Seal by pressing pl:lstic wrap firmly ~lround edges.

Paper plates—while they muy be used for Time and Temperature Cooking :lnd Defrosting, do not use them with automatic cooking. Use microwuve-safe pltites or bowls for reheating. Cover with pl:~stic wr:lp

or wax paper.

Follow Automatic Cooking Control Guide setting for casserole;. Cover casserole meat and veget:ibles with sauce. If they are not cool, it is better to use Time Cook 1 & 11.

Slit pl~lstic pouches I inch as shown above. Break food up thoroughly after oven signals.
