OVEN COOKING GUIDE

Cooking Hints

zShelf positions are counted from the bottom.

zPut dishes in the centre of the shelf.

zWhen using the fan oven, reduce conventional oven settings by 50ºF - 75ºF and in some cases, cooking time by up to 10 minutes for every hour.

zIt is important to check that food is piping hot before serving.

zYou can change the setting and cooking times to suit your tastes.

Deep Fat Frying

zDo not try to fry too much food at a time, especially frozen food.

This only lowers the temperature of the oil or fat too much, resulting in greasy food.

zAlways dry food thoroughly before frying and lower it slowly into the hot oil or fat. Frozen foods in particular, will cause frothing and spitting, if added too quickly.

zNever heat fat, or fry with a lid on the pan.

zKeep the outside of the pan, clean and free from streaks of oil or fat.

zThe following chart gives a guide to cooking a number of every day items.
