Installing the Cover Plate

To convert from mulching to side discharging, remove the mulch plate and install the cover plate.

Warning

An uncovered discharge opening could allow the lawn mower to throw objects in the operator's or bystander's direction and result in a serious injury. Also, contact with the blade could occur.

Never operate the lawn mower unless you install a cover plate, a mulch plate, or a grass chute and catcher.

1.Remove the wing screw (A) that fastens the mulch plate to the housing.

1.Remove the wing screw (A) that fastens the cover or mulch plate to the housing.

2.Slide the cover or mulch plate counterclockwise and remove it from the mower housing.

3.Insert the front corner of the chute baffle into the opening in the housing.

4.Rotate the chute clockwise and push it down into the opening in the housing.

2.Slide the mulch plate counterclockwise and remove it from the housing.

3.Slide the cover plate over the shoulder bolts.

4.Rotate the cover plate clockwise.

5.Secure the cover plate with the wing screw.

Important: The chute baffle (A) must go behind the front housing baffle (B) and between the blade and the toe guard (C) to prevent it from contacting the blade.

5. Insert the chute

6.Push the keyhole slots on the chute down over the 2 shoulder bolts on the housing and slide the chute clockwise to lock it in place.
