FUEL HANDLING

The oil pump

The chain is lubricated by an automatic oil pump. The pump does not normally require any maintenance, provided that clean chain oil (of special type) is used, and that no dirt is allowed to get into the tank during filling.

The flow of oil to the chain can be regulated by means of an adjuster screw as indicated in the illustration, using a screwdriver or combination key. For maximum flow, turn the screw in a clockwise direction as far as it will go.

The oil pump is adjusted at the factory to supply a normal flow of oil to the chain. The settings should be such that the saw's fuel and oil tanks run dry at the same time.

Fuelling

!Taking the following precautions, will lessen the risk of fire.

•Do not smoke or place warm objects in the vicinity of the fuel.

•Always shut off the engine before refuelling.

•Slowly open the fuel cap, when filling fuel, so that possible overpressure is slowly released.

•Tighten the fuel cap carefully after fuelling.

•Always move the saw from the fuelling area before starting.

Clean around the fuel cap.

 

Clean the fuel and chain oil

the fuel tanks causes

 

malfunction. Make sure the

 

fuel is well mixed by shaking
