TROUBLESHOOTING

Should faults occur, it is in many cases not necessary to consult your dealer or technical service department. On the basis of the following checks, you will be able to rectify a number of conditions yourself without difficulty. If the condition cannot be remedied after the following check, please consult your dealer or contact D & M Professional at 866 405 2154.

No Power

check power cord connections

switch POWER off then immediately back on

Recording does not contain tracks

check that AUTO TRACK is ON

check if there is 2.7 seconds of silence (analog)

check that the digital source conforms to the SPDIF or IEC-958-II standard

is source a DVD video disc (DVD discs do not contain track information)

No Sound

check audio connections

if using an amplifier or receiver,

check amplifier or receiver settings

check that a signal is present

try a different amplifier or receiver

Sound distorted

check that analog output is not connected to a PHONE input

check that disc is not defective (try another)

Recording distorted

check recording level

try another disc

XLR input too high or too low

adjust record level

adjust TRIM

Play will not start

check that the label of the CD is facing up

clean the disc

check that disc is not defective (try another)

Remote control does not work

check that EXT / INT (IR) switch on rear is at INT

check drive selection (CDR or CD)

point the IR remote control directly at the IR receiver

check or replace batteries

Will not record

check input source selection (INPUT button selection matches input source connected)

check that disc is not an audio disc (WRONG DISC display)

clean the disc

check if CD-R/RW is an unfinalized disc

try another disc

text memory full (MEMORY FULL/FINALIZE CD display Erase CD Text for other disc(s) or finalize other disc(s) to obtain memory space.)

DIGI flashing in display

check digital cable connections

try a different cable

check that the output of the digital source con- forms to the SPDIF or IEC-958-II standard

OPTI flashing in display

check optical connections

try a different connector

check that the output of the digital source con- forms to the SPDIF or IEC-958-II standard

DIGI flashing in display

check digital cable connections

try a different cable

check that the output of the digital source con- forms to the SPDIF or IEC-958-II standard

Disc playback quality on other players is poor

check disc quality

check that discs are compatible with 1X recording

try 'Music' (consumer) blank discs

if using 80 minute discs, try a 74 minute disc (they provide a wider recording area and thus less chance for error)

CD Text appears on CD drive but not CDR drive

check disc (The CDR drive does not display CD Text on 'hybrid' CDs that contain audio and data together on the disc.)
