General Description CBH 80 6.1 GPM Pump

The PTO Pump Kit consists of those par ts required to power the backhoe from the tractor’s PTO shaft. It includes the PTO pump and adapter, reservoir, filtra- tion sys tem, hydraulic h oses, and fittings. In addi - tion, it in cludes a pum p plate w hich attaches to the tractor’s d rawbar an d keeps the pump from t urning the PTO shaft.

NOTE: The speed of the backhoe operation increas- es as PTO speed increases.

Assembly

IMPORTANT - When installing hoses and fitt ings always use thread sealant in permanent connec - tions. Do not use thread sealant in union ends of adapters. Do not over tighten fittings - t hey can split or expand, causing leakage.

IMPORTANT - Have a suitable hoist available before proceeding with loader setup.

1.Assemble Filler Tube (28) and Br eather Cap with Dipstick (29) to Reservoir Tank (20).

2.Assemb le Reservoir (20) to backhoe main frame using 5/16” NF Locknuts (3).

3.Preassembly of filter Base and Element (23):

Remove Filter Element from base t o e ase installa - tion. Assemble Pipe Nipple (5) to “Inlet” port on filter base (23).

4.Assemble Filter Base (23) to R eservoir Tank (20) using 90 Degree Pipe Elbow (6) and Pipe Nipple (5).

NOTE - Change Filter El ement (30) every time oil is changed.

5.A ssemble Suction H ose (11) to s traight B arbed Fitting (17) using Hose Clamp (18). C onnect assem- bly to 90 Degree Adapter Union (13) installed earlier on the Filter Base and Element (23).

6.Install 90 Degree Adapter Union (26) to upper port on Res ervoir Tank (20). Install 90 Degree Adapter Union (25) to R eturn Lin e “Check Va lve” in up per steel oil line loca ted under Left Ha nd Foot Pad area of the backhoe mainframe. Complete return line con- nection to Reservoir Tank using Steel Oil Line (24).

7.Reinstall Filter Element to the Filter Base.

8.A ssemble Pu mp Plate (27) to Pump (22) using

two 1/2” NF x 1 -3/4” Bolts (1), Lockwasher s (8), and Nuts (4 ). Pump Plate may have to be readjusted later when installed on tractor PTO Shaft. The Plate

may need to be turned 180 degrees to provi de prop- er engagement with t ractor drawb ar and have ade - quate clearances.

9.Slide PTO Adapter (19) onto pump shaft, allowing 1/8” cle arance bet ween A dapter and pump face. Secure P TO Adap ter (19) in place usi ng two Setscrews (9) and 5/16” NC Nuts (2).

10.Assemble Suction Hose (11) t o Pump (22) using Reducer F ittin g (7), Redu cer Fitting ( 14), an d 90 Degree Barbed Fitting (16). Secure Hose using Hose Clamp (18).

11.Connect 36” Hy draulic H ose (21) to Inlet Line steel oil line located under Left Hand Foot Pad area of the backho e ma inframe. Complete connection to Pump using Re ducer Fitting (15) an d 90 Adapter Union (12).

IMPORTANT - If hoses are connected incorrectly, serious damage to the backhoe will result.

12.NOTE: Init ial fil l up of t he Reservoi r Tank will require 4-1/2 gallons of fluid. Fill Reservoir with rec - ommen ded fl uid t o co rrect le vel; re fer t o Service Section in the Backhoe Manual.

13.Install th e backhoe to the t ractor at this time fol - lowing the insta llation procedu re in the Attaching Section of the manual.

14.Slide comp lete Pump a ssembly onto t he PTO shaft of the tractor, making sure locking collar on the PTO Adapter has locked into position.

IMPORTANT - Make sure kinks DO NOT develop in a ny of th e lines. Suction hose can b e sh ort- ened to prevent this problem.

CAUTION

DO NOT REMOVE THE TRACTOR PTO SHIELD!

15.Pump Plate (27) may be adjusted (turned front to back or bottom to top) on Pump (22) for proper fit-up to tractor drawbar or three p oint mount if necessary. The op timum position is to have the plate p ointing down and ove r the drawbar with the offset to wards the tractor. Refer to illustration.

An alternate position for the Pump Plate may have it pointed upwards and re tained by the U pper Ba r of the Three Po int Mount K it. Whatever position is selected, it is importan t that the pu mp be restrained from rotating. Refer to illustration.
