TOOTH REPLACEMENT

 

 

 

The bucket tooth points are shelf-sharpening and w ill

require lit tle a ttention; h owever thes e po ints o n the

bucket shanks can be replaced when they

become

badly worn or

broken. If a t ooth sh ank breaks

off,

becomes d amaged or l ost so that it can not hol d a

tooth po int, a new

shank should be

welded to the

bucket in its place.

 

 

 

 

Peened-Ontooth poin ts can be removed f rom the

welded tooth shank by hamm ering at “A” (Figure 5)

on t he tooth

point or by dri ving a chisel at “B”,

just

between the to oth p oint b ox section

and

the tooth

shank. I nstall the new point and anchor

it to the

shank by peening at the location shown.

 

 

Bolt-Ontooth points, when worn, can be replaced by

removing the hardware that connects it to the cutting

edge. Install new tooth and replace har dware if nec-

essary. (Figure 6)

 

 

 

 

Roll-Pinnedtooth points, when worn, can be replaced

by driving out the roll pin with a hammer and pun ch.

Install the new tooth using a new roll pin and hammer.

Tightening Nuts and Bolts

Periodically, check to b e sure all bolts and nuts are tight. See torque chart, page 51 .

Check all p ivot pins for c otter pins, wa shers and retainers; if missing, replace.

LUBRICATION

IMPORTANT: Avoid excessive greasing. Dirt collects on exposed grease and increases wear greatlyAfter. greasing, wipe off excessive grease fromittingsf .

Economical and efficient operation of the backhoe is dependent upon regular an d proper lubrication of all moving parts with a quality lubricant.

All parts provided with grease fittings should be lubricat- ed with a good quality chassis lube type grease. If any grease fittings are missing, replace them immediately. Clean all fittings thoroughly before using grease gun.

Lubricate all grease fittings at le ast twice daily, once at the beginning of operation and again approximate - ly halfway through the work day.

Lower stab ilizers t o the ground a nd lower boom s o bucket rests on the ground as shown in Fig ures 8. Refer to these illust ratio ns for the locat ion of all grease fittings.

IMPORTANT : Befor e gre asing boom to swi ng frame pivot (*) shown in Figures 8, raise boom and install transport lock pin shown in Figure 1.

On Models CBH60, CBH70, CBH80 the following locations should be oiled with SAE30 oil:
