Installing the HSSI Module
CAUTION:
Connections between 3Com equipment and other equipment and peripherals must
be made using shielded cables in order to maintain compliance with FCC, and other agency
radio frequency emissions limits. All interconnection cables should be equipped with shielded
connectors. The backshells of these connectors must completely surround the cable shield.
Internal Loopback test
An internal loopback test is performed automatically when you insert the HSSI module into the
NETBuilder II chassis. A successful loopback test is indicated by the following example
message:

If you receive a different message, refer to Chapter 2, “Troubleshooting and Maintenance,” for
the appropriate action to take.
Hotswap
When you hotswap an HSSI module in a running system, the following is displayed:
