Consejos para medirse la presión arterial

☞Relájese unos 5 minutos antes de tomar su medida.

☞No fume o tome café por lo menos 30 minutos antes de tomarse una medida.

☞Sacarse cualquier ropa ajustada y colocar el brazalete en el brazo desnudo.

☞A menos que el médico recomiende lo contrario, medirse la presión en el brazo izquierdo.

☞No hable durante su medición.

☞No cruce sus piernas y mantenga sus pies planos en el piso durante sus medidas.

Ahora ya se está listo para proceder con estos simples pasos:

1.Sentarse cómodamente con el brazo izquierdo descansando en una superficie plana de manera que el centro del brazo (entre el hombro y el codo) esté a la misma altura del corazón.

2.Descansar el brazo izquierdo sobre la mesa con la palma de la mano hacia arriba y deslizar el extremo del brazelete a través del ojal de metal cer- ciorándose que el lado plano quede hacia el brazo. Ahora, colocar el tubo más hacia el lado interior del brazo en línea con el dedo meñique.

3.Tire el final del brazalete para ajustarlo, doble el

material extra y ajústelo seguramente. El brazalete debe quedar apretado pero no demasiado. Se debe poder colocar dos dedos entre el brazalete y el brazo.

IMPORTANTE: Medirse la presión arterial a la misma hora todos los días.

4. Confirme que el símbolo índice en el brazalete indica dentro de los límites de tamaño correcto.
