This chapter provides instructions on how to trouble shoot system hardware problems. If the problem can’t be
resolved using the procedures described here, information for getting online technical assistance is also
provided.

Hardware Diagnostic Procedure

IMPORTANT: The diagnostic tests described in this chapter are only intended to test Acer products. Non-Acer
products, prototype cards, or modified options can give false errors and invalid system
responses.
1. Obtain as much detail as possible about the presented failure symptoms.
2. Verify the sympto m s by attempting to re-create the failure through diagnostic tests or by repeating the
same condition that precede s the symptoms.
3. Refer the table below to determine which co rrective actio n to perform.
Problem Symptom Section to Refer to
Power failure The power indicator does light up or

POST failure POST does not complete. No beep or
