To Compensate for Module Insertion Loss
The following steps allow you to enter an offset to compensate for the inser-
tion loss of the clock recovery module. This provides accurate amplitude mea-
surements at the input to the clock recovery module.
1Disconnect the cable from the clock recovery module’s Input connector.
2Measure the signal using a power meter. You can use either the
Agilent 83480A’s built-in power meter or an external power meter.
3Reconnect the cable to the clock recovery module.
4Disconnect the cable from the reference receiver module’s input conn ector.
5Measure the signal using a power meter. You can use either the
Agilent 83480A’s built-in power meter or an external power meter.
6Subtract the two measurements to determine the insertion los s of the module.
