Caller ID
How caller ID history (call log) works
The telephone stores caller ID information about the last 50 incoming calls
in the telephone base. Each entry may have up to 24 digits for the telephone
number and 15 characters for the name. Entries are stored in reverse
chronological order. The telephone deletes the oldest entry when the log is
full to make room for new calls. If you answer a call before the information
appears on the screen, it does not show in the caller ID history.
NOTE: The caller ID infor mation might not be availab le for every incoming call . The callers
might intentionally block t heir names and/or telephone numb ers (see Reasons for missi ng
caller ID information on p age 37).
Memory match
If the incoming telephone number matches the last seven
digits of a telephone number in your directory, the name that
appears on the screen matches the corresponding name in
your directory.
For example, if Christine Smith calls, her name appears as
Chris if this is how you entered it into your directory.
NOTE: The number shown by yo ur caller ID is in the format sen t by the telephone service
provider. The telephone ser vice provider usually del ivers 10-digit telep hone numbers (area
code plus telephone number) . If the telephone number of the c aller does not match a number
in your directory, the name a ppears as it is delivered by t he telephone service prov ider. For
example, if the telephone se rvice provider includ es the area code and the directo ry number
does not, the name appear s as delivered by the telephone s ervice provider.
