If, however, current overload causes the second circuit breaker to trip, then the entire power unit shuts down because the power supply is also tied to the second circuit breaker.

Refer to Table C.5 to determine the time it takes for the circuit breaker to trip based on the amount of current overload.

PM20i-L30A IPDU

The PM20i-L30A IPDU has two 15-amp circuit breakers. The first circuit breaker controls outlets 11 through 20; the second controls outlets 1 through 10. In the event that the total current flow to outlets 11 through 20 exceeds 15 amps due to equipment connected to these outlets, then the first circuit breaker will trip causing outlets 11 through 20 to shutdown. This does not affect outlets 1 through 10 which are controlled by the second circuit breaker.

The PM IPDU controller is installed so that tripping either or both breakers will not render it inoperative.

When either circuit breaker trips, only the power outlets of that segment will be affected, and half of the outlets remain operative.
