If you are using a surround-sound processor, connect the front left and front right outputs of the processor to one of the inputs on the AX-7e. Please note that the AX-7e can accept either balanced or unbalanced signals.

To activate the “Processor Pass-Through” mode for that input, remove the AC power from the AX-7e for at least 10 seconds. Then, while pressing the input selector button corresponding to the chosen surround-sound processor input, re-connect the AC power.

The chosen input is now programmed for “Processor Pass-Through” operation, disabling the now redundant volume control of the AX-7e. When that input is selected, the preamplifier section of the AX-7e is set to unity gain (0 dB), and the volume is controlled directly from the surround-sound processor. The volume indicator of the AX-7e will display “PP” to show that the “Processor Pass-Through” mode has been selected for that input.

AX-7E specifications

The Ayre Acoustics AX-7E is a high-performance integrated amplifier renowned for its harmonious blend of power, clarity, and musicality. This amplifier exemplifies Ayre's commitment to exceptional audio quality, making it a preferred choice for audiophiles seeking an immersive listening experience.

One of the standout features of the AX-7E is its power output. The amplifier delivers a robust 60 watts per channel into 8 ohms, offering the ability to drive a wide array of speakers effectively. With its ability to also provide 120 watts per channel at 4 ohms, this amplifier ensures that it can handle more demanding speaker systems without compromising sound quality.

Ayre utilizes their proprietary "Ayre Non-Phase" technology in the AX-7E. This innovative design approach minimizes distortion and enhances phase coherence, resulting in a more accurate and engaging musical presentation. By maintaining a steady control over the audio signal, the AX-7E allows listeners to experience their music as intended by the artists.

Another key characteristic of the AX-7E is its fully balanced design. The amplifier employs a differential circuit topology which significantly reduces noise and interference, further contributing to its impressive sonic performance. This balance in design ensures that both the left and right channels receive identical signals while minimizing the potential for ground loop hum, making the AX-7E an ideal choice for high-fidelity sound systems.

Furthermore, the AX-7E is equipped with various connectivity options to accommodate a diverse range of audio sources. It includes five line-level inputs, catering to both analog and digital sources. The integration of a high-quality phono stage for vinyl playback is a notable feature, integrating seamlessly into a modern audiophile's setup.

Ayre Acoustics also emphasizes build quality. The AX-7E is housed in a solid aluminum chassis, which not only contributes to its aesthetic appeal but also enhances the durability of the unit. The classic Ayre design ethos can be seen in its clean lines and functional layout, combining elegance with practicality.

In conclusion, the Ayre Acoustics AX-7E stands out as a remarkable integrated amplifier, incorporating advanced technologies that enhance audio fidelity. Its powerful output, innovative non-phase technology, fully balanced design, and robust build quality make it an excellent choice for anyone serious about high-resolution sound reproduction. Whether enjoying cherished vinyl records or streaming the latest high-definition digital tracks, the AX-7E promises an audio experience that captivates the senses.
