Troubleshooting (continued)

B. Application Errors

Check that the proper port is selected.

To achieve a link between the PC and the device, the LED of the correct port must be illuminated.

Connect the devices directly to the PC.

If the device does not properly respond when connected directly to the PC, the device may be damaged, not the F1U123 switch. Consult with the manufacturer’s tech support for assistance.

Try rebooting the computer.

By rebooting, the operating system checks the ports for the presence of the device. Make sure the correct port is selected so that the drivers are loaded, and the device is fully operable.

Not enough power is being supplied to the switch.

The F1U123 does not require power in normal instances. However, some parallel port devices and computers do not provide enough power to the switch. Therefore, an optional power adapter must be used. We recommend using Belkin part number F5B001-PWR. It is a special 7VDC 200mA power supply, and simply plugs into the power connector on the side of the F1U123 switch. Use of other power supplies providing more than 7VDC will significantly compromise the life of the switch.
