OVERVIEW

BLACK BOX® Video Matrix Switches combine video sharing and video splitter capabilities in one compact device!

With one of these switches, you can share up to four or eight video display devices between two computers. Intelligent functionality gives you the flexibility to use a broad range of video devices, from CRT and LCD monitors to new plasma TVs or video projectors.

They work with VGA, SVGA, XGA, and multisync monitors, support monitors up to 1920 x 1440 resolution, and are VESA DDC (DDC1, DDC2, DDC2B) compliant.

These matrix switches also provide 250-MHz bandwidth for video clarity and integrity when connecting multiple video sources to multiple screens.

What‘s more, a built-in signal booster amplifies and extends video signals more than 200 feet—making the Video Matrix Switches great for remote display applications where you want to distribute images from a central secure room to public or non-secure areas.

Cabling is easy. Just link an HD15 video cable between your computers’ VGA cards and the ”Video In” ports on the switch. Run a separate HD15 cable from the “Video Out” ports to the monitors or other display devices.

Front-panel pushbuttons enable you to configure the switch to receive the image from either PC.

To cascade switches for an expanded setup, run a video cable from the ”Video Out” port of one switch to the ’Video In” port of the second switch.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

The Video Matrix Switches are also ideal for multimedia control rooms or stations, test bench facilities, classrooms, or distributing media from the data center. They’re the logical choice for any digital signage application, including retail PoS setups or content distribution in educational institutions or medical facilities.

Lightweight and easy to set up, they can also be used by demonstrators at trade shows or conferences to disseminate and present graphically rich content on multiple screens viewed by visitors. Even better, their heavy duty cases can withstand the rigors of temporary installations requiring quick setups and teardowns.

The Black Box Video Matrix offered by Black Box Corporation is a sophisticated solution for managing and distributing video signals in various applications, including broadcasting, live events, and control rooms. The AC509A and AC508A models are two of the most prominent products in this line, designed to provide seamless video switching and signal management.

The AC509A is a 9x9 video matrix switcher that can handle multiple video sources and dynamically route those signals to any connected display. One of its key features is its ability to support high-definition resolutions up to 1080p, ensuring excellent picture quality. It integrates with a variety of video standards, which makes it versatile and suitable for different environments. The matrix switcher is managed through a user-friendly interface, enabling operators to swiftly select sources and destinations as needed.

The AC508A, on the other hand, is an 8x8 video matrix switcher, designed with similar capabilities to its counterpart. It also supports a range of video formats and resolutions. Both models utilize advanced signal processing technologies that minimize latency, ensuring that video is delivered in real-time without noticeable delays. This is particularly important in environments such as broadcast studios or security operations centers, where timing is critical.

Both the AC509A and AC508A are engineered with robust build quality, ensuring reliability in high-demand scenarios. They offer various input and output interfaces, including HDMI, DVI, and VGA, providing extensive compatibility with modern video devices. Additionally, these matrices come with support for audio embedding and de-embedding, allowing for the synchronization of audio and video signals, enhancing the overall media experience.

Security is another important consideration with these video matrices. They incorporate features such as password protection and encryption to safeguard sensitive video content from unauthorized access. Moreover, the ability to remotely control the switchers through network interfaces adds a layer of convenience, as operators can manage the system from different locations.

In summary, the Black Box Video Matrix solutions like the AC509A and AC508A stand out in the market for their performance, reliability, and feature-rich design. With high-definition support, advanced processing capabilities, and robust security features, they serve as an ideal choice for professionals seeking effective video management solutions in a variety of settings.
