Breville Tea Maker Troubleshooting: Reset, Basket Issues, and More

TROUBLESHOOTING

POSSIBLE PROBLEM	EASY SOLUTION
Tea Maker will not	•	Check that the power plug is securely inserted into
switch 'ON'		the outlet
	•	Insert the power plug into an independent outlet
	•	Insert the power plug into a different outlet
	•	Reset the circuit breaker if necessary
	• For additional safety the Tea Maker is fi tted with a thermal
		cut out. In the event of severe overheating, the Tea Maker
		will automatically shut down to prevent further damage.
		Should this occur, call the Breville Customer Service Center
		(1-866-BREVILLE).
The Tea Maker will	•	Check that the Glass Jug is securely positioned on the
not work		Power Base.
The LCD light has	•	The Tea Maker goes into standby mode if not used for

	•	To re-activate the Tea Maker out of standby mode:

		change or a sound alert may be heard, but no changes to the
		cycle will be made.
The LCD screen	•	The LCD screen will display a fl ashing 'RESET' when there is

		outlet, wait 5 seconds, then plug back in.
	•	Call Breville Customer Service (1-866-BREVILLE) if the
		'RESET' message continues.
The LCD screen	•	The LCD screen will display a fl ashing 'ERROR' when there is

The 'BASKET CYCLE'		The BASKET button can only be selected when using
feature / BASKET button		the Tea Maker for brewing tea. It cannot be selected
does not work		when using the Tea Maker as a variable temperature kettle.
		When brewing tea, the BASKET button can be used in
		3 different ways:
		1. To assist infusion
		-	This feature continuously auto lifts and lowers the Tea
			Basket during the tea brewing cycle. This movement
			loosens the tea leaves within the Tea Basket, allowing the
			heated water to circulate freely around the tea leaves for
			maximum infusion.
		-	To select this feature, press the BASKET button once,
			before or during the tea brewing cycle (see Page 18,
			‘Selecting the Basket Cycle Feature’).
		2.	For extra infusion
		-	This feature lowers the Tea Basket after the brewing cycle
			is complete. The extra infusion produces a stronger
			tasting tea.
		-	To select this feature, press and hold the BASKET button
			for 2 seconds after the tea brewing cycle is complete.
			The Tea Basket will lower. Once the desired strength
			has been reached, press and hold the BASKET button
			for 2 seconds. The Tea Basket will rise to the top of the
			Glass Jug (see Page 23, 'Moving the Tea Basket after the
			Brewing Cycle').
		3.	For brew times over 10 minutes
		-	In this mode, once the correct water temperature is
			reached, the Tea Basket will lower and commence
			brewing. However, it will not automatically lift the Tea
			Basket, allowing you to manually lift it once the desired
			brew time has elapsed.
		-	To select this feature, press and hold the BASKET button
			for 2 seconds when the desired brew time has elapsed.
			The Tea Basket will rise to the top of the Glass Jug (see
			Page 21 'To Customize a Brew Time')
After boiling water,	•	This is normal for the functionality of the Tea Maker
bubbles appear around the
temperature sensor
My tea tastes too weak	•	Tea taste is a personal preference and may require
or too strong		experimentation to get it to your liking. For stronger tasting
		tea, increase the amount of tea or brew time (see Page 16
		and 21). For a weaker tasting tea, decrease the amount of
		tea (see page 16 and 21).
