Introduction

The 9H531-17 and 9H532-17, shown in Figure 1-1, are SmartSwitch® Modules for the SmartSwitch 9000.

The 9H531-17 and 9H532-17 are seventeen port switch modules, with sixteen 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX or 100BASE-FX ports and one VHSIM (Very High Speed Interface Module), on the front panel. The VHSIM port accepts either HSIM or VHSIM, multi-technology interface modules. This provides support for Gigabit Ethernet, ATM, Fast Ethernet, FDDI and WAN.

This module connects to the SmartSwitch 9000 INB-A and -B backplane interfaces.

The 9H531-17 and 9H532-17 modules have one interface to each INB backplane and seventeen front panel interfaces.

The 9H531-17 has:

16 MT-RJ 100 Mbps multimode fiber Ethernet ports

16 RJ45 10/100 Mbps Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) Ethernet ports
