When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be observed, including the following:

4.To protect against risk of fire, electrical shock and injury, do not immerse the toaster, cord or plug in water or other liquids.
5.Never leave the toaster unattended when in use.
6.Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
7.Always use the toaster on a dry, level surface. Never operate the toaster on its side.
8.Do not place the toaster on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
9.Do not use this appliance near or below combustible materials like curtains or placemats.
10.Fire may occur if the toaster is covered, touching or near any flammable material, including fabrics, wall coverings, towels, curtains, or like materials when in operation.
11.Do not allow hot surfaces of the toaster to come in contact with countertops or tables.
12.Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Do not attempt to dislodge food when toaster is plugged in. To disconnect, push the Cancel button, then remove the plug from the outlet.
13.Never insert metal utensils, such as knives, into the toaster to remove lodged food items. This may damage the toaster and cause risk of an electrical shock.
