Formatting a Memory Card

You should always format a new memory card or one from which you wish to erase all images and other data.

Please note that formatting (initializing) a memory card erases all data, including protected images and other file types.

1 Use the or button to select [Format] in the [ (Set up)] menu, then press the FUNC./SET button.

2 Use the or button to select [OK], then press theFUNC./SET button.

The upper indicator blinks green, and

formatting starts. Wait until the indicator goes

 

off.

 

z Normal formatting begins.

 

z To perform a low level format, use the

 

or button to select [Low Level Format] and the or button to add a check mark.

Settings can be made by turning the multi control dial.

z To cancel instead of formatting, select [Cancel] and press the FUNC./SET button.

zYou can stop formatting a card when [Low Level Format] is selected by pressing the FUNC./SET button. You can still use a card without problem when formatting is halted, but all data will be erased.

zThe capacity of the memory card displayed after formatting will be less than the rated capacity of the memory card. This is not a malfunction of the memory card or camera.
