3Selecting the AF point

The AF point is used for focusing. The AF point can be selected automatically by the camera or manually by you. In the Basic Zone modes and <Q> mode, the AF point selection is automatic only. In the <T> <R> <E> <W> modes, the AF point can be selected either automatically or manually.

Automatic AF point Selection

The camera selects the AF point automatically according to situation.

Manual AF point Selection

You can select any of the seven AF points manually. This is best when you want to be sure to focus on a particular subject, or to compose a particular shot quickly.

1 Press the <3> button. ()

s The currently-selected AF point will light.

2Select the desired AF point.

While looking at the AF point on the LCD panel or in the viewfinder, press the cross keys to select the desired AF point.

To select a horizontal AF point, press the left or right cross key. To select a vertical AF point, press the top or bottom cross key.

You can also turn the <l> dial to select an AF point.

If all the AF points light, automatic AF point selection will be set.

Press the shutter button halfway to return to shooting.
