Manual Focus Adjustment

Autofocus may not work well on the following subjects. In such case, focus manually.

• Reflective surfaces

• Fast moving subjects

• Subjects with low contrast

• Through wet windows

or without vertical lines

• Night scenes

• Adjust the zoom before you start the procedure.

Open (

) the joystick guide.

Focus

Select (

) [ Focus] and press

.

The current focus is locked and [MF] appears.

3Push the joystick () or () once to verify if the image is focused.

The center of the screen will be magnified to help you focus more

easily. You can also turn off this function with the / [Focus Assist Functions] setting.

When face detection is activated, instead of the center of the picture, the camcorder will magnify the face of the person identified as the main subject. If there is more than one person in the picture, you can select the main subject manually.

4Adjust () the focus as required.

If you wish to focus on faraway subjects such as mountains or

fireworks, push the joystick () toward and hold it pressed down until [MF] changes to .

5Push the joystick () to hide the joystick guide.

The selected focus will be locked.

During focus lock, press twice to return the camcorder to autofocus.
