E Choose the function of the DMZ/Internet (WAN2) port. If the port will be used as a second Internet port, select Dual WAN. If the port will be used as a DMZ port, select DMZ.

Depending on which connec- tion type you select, the fea- tures available on the Network page of the Setup screen will differ. Proceed to the instruc- tions for the connection type you are using.

RV082 specifications

The Cisco Systems RV082 is a powerful dual WAN VPN router designed for small businesses and remote offices, providing an ideal solution for connecting multiple locations securely and efficiently. Released within the Cisco RV series, the RV082 stands out due to its robust feature set, advanced security options, and reliable performance.

One of the primary features of the RV082 is its dual WAN capability, allowing users to connect two separate internet sources simultaneously. This capability not only provides load balancing, enhancing internet speed and reliability, but also ensures redundancy. In case one of the internet connections fails, the router automatically switches to the backup WAN connection, minimizing downtime and maintaining connectivity.

The RV082 is equipped with a comprehensive set of security technologies that safeguard the network against potential threats. It supports VPN (Virtual Private Network) functionality, enabling secure remote access. With support for IPsec and SSL VPN protocols, the RV082 allows users to connect to the network from remote locations securely, making it a great choice for businesses with remote employees or branch offices. Additionally, the device includes a built-in firewall that helps prevent unauthorized access while allowing users to tailor security policies to meet their specific needs.

Another compelling characteristic of the RV082 is its ease of use. The router features a web-based user interface, allowing for straightforward configuration and management without requiring extensive IT expertise. Cisco also offers setup wizards that simplify the configuration process, enabling quick deployment for users who may not be as technologically savvy.

Performance-wise, the RV082 is designed to handle a fair amount of concurrent connections, making it suitable for small to medium-sized enterprises. With support for Quality of Service (QoS), it prioritizes critical business applications, ensuring that essential services run smoothly even during peak usage periods.

The device also includes multiple Ethernet ports—typically eight 10/100 ports—allowing for wired connectivity to various devices within the network. This flexibility enables businesses to connect desktop computers, printers, and other devices, creating a robust local area network.

In summary, the Cisco Systems RV082 is a versatile, reliable VPN router that caters to the networking needs of small businesses. With its dual WAN capabilities, strong security features, user-friendly interface, and solid performance, the RV082 remains an excellent choice for organizations looking to enhance their network infrastructure and ensure secure, uninterrupted connectivity.
