Disc Care and Maintena nce
Optical discs (DVDs, CDs) conta in high-density compre ssed data and need proper handlin g.
Handling a Disc
Hold a DVD/CD by its edges. Avoid touching
the recorded side of the disc. To remove a
DVD/CD from its storage case, p ress down on
the c enter re tention mechanism of th e case
and lift the disc out.
Do not s ubject discs to prolonged exposure to direct sun light, high humidity, or high tem-
peratures.
Do not bend or press discs.
To reduce the risk of scr atches, always pu t discs back in their case after use. Store disc s
vertically in a cabinet.
Do not place stickers or labels o n either side of a disc.
Cleaning a Disc
Use a dry, so ft cloth to wipe off any ngerprints an d dusts from the playing sur face of the disc.
Wipe in a straight line radially from the cent er to the outside edge of the disc. Small dust parti cles
and light stains will not affec t playback quality.
Never use chemicals such as record sprays, anti-stati c sprays, benzene, or thinners to clean
a disc. Doing so will damage the sur face of the disc permanently.
