_lb WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or
safety glasses with side shieldswhen operating
tools. Failure to do so couldresult inobjects
being thrown into youreyes, resulting in possible
sedous injury.
DRILLING
See Figure 9.
Move the drill bitinto the workpiece applying only
enough pressure to keep the bitcutting. Do not force
or apply side pressure toelongate a hole.
WARNING: Be prepared for binding or bit
breakthrough. When these situations occur, ddll
has a tendency tograb and kick opposite to the
direction of rotationand could cause loss of
controlwhen breaking through material. If not
prepared, this lossof control canresult in
possible sedous injury.
When drillingmetals, usealight oil on the ddll bit to
keep it from overheating. The oil will prolong the life of
the bitand increase the drillingaction.
If the bitjams inworkpiece or ifthe ddllstalls, release
switch tdgger immediately. Remove the bit from the
workpioce and determine the reasonfor jamming.
LEVEL DRILLING
See Fugure 10.
Aconvenient feature provided withyour drill is a level.
It is recessed in the motor housingon topof yourddll.
It can be used to keep drill bit level duringddlling
operations.
Fig. 9
When ddlling hard smooth surfaces use a center
punchto mark desired hole location. This wilt prevent
the drill bit from slippingoff centeras the hole is
started. However, the low speed feature allows
starting holes without center punching if desired. To
accomplish this, simplyoperate your ddll at a low
speed until the hole is started.
The material to be drilled should be secured in avise
or with clamps to keep it from turning as the drill bit
rotates.
.Ho=ldtool firmly and place the bitat the pointto be
ddlled. Depress the switch trigger to start tool. Fig..10
