TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

PROBLEMCAUSE

Engine clicks but	•	Loose or damaged wiring.
will not start (cont'd)	•	Faulty	solenoid or starter.
Loss of power		Cutting	too much
		grass/too fast.
		Throttle in "CHOKE" posi-
		tion.

CORRECTION

•Check all wiring.

•Check/replace solenoid or starter.

•Set in "Higher Cut" posi- tion/reduce speed.

•Adjust throttle control.

Build-up of grass, leaves

and trash under mower.

•

Clean underside of mower

housing.

	Dirty	air filter.
	Low oil leveVdirty oil.
	Faulty spark		plug.
•	Dirty	fuel filter.
•	Stale	or dirty	fuel.
•	Water	in fuel.

•Clean/replace air filter.

"Check oil level/change oil.

• Clean and regap or change

spark plug.

Replace fuel filter.

Drain fuel tank and refill with

fresh gasoline.

Drain fuel tank and carbure-

tor, refill tank with fresh

gasoline and replace fuel fil-

ter.

Excessive vibration

Engine continues to

run when operator leaves seat with at-

tachment clutch engaged

•Spark plug wire loose.

Dirty engine air screen/fins.

Dirty/clogged muffler.

Loose or damaged wiring. Carburetor out of adjust- ment.

Engine valves out of adjustment.

Worn, bent or loose blade.

Bent blade mandrel. Loose/damaged part(s).

•Faulty operator-safety presence control system.

	Connect and tighten spark
	plug wire.
•	Clean engine		air screen/fins.
•	Clean/replace		muffler.
•	Check	all wiring.
•	See "To Adjust		Carburetor" in
	Service	and Adjustments
	section.
•	Contact	an authorized		ser-
	vice center.
•	Replace blade. Tighten blade
	bolt.
•	Replace blade mandrel.
•	Tighten	loose part(s).
	Replace damaged parts.
	Check	wiring,	switches	and
	connections.		If not
	corrected, contact an autho-
	rized service		center/
	department.

Poor cut - uneven • Worn, bent or loose blade.

•Mower deck not level.

•Buildup of grass, leaves, and trash under mower.

Replace blade.		Tighten
blade	bolt.
Level	mower deck.
Clean	underside	of mower
housing.
