CLEAN AmRSCREEN

Air screen mustbe keptfree of dirt and chaffto preventenginedamagefrom overheating. Cleanwith a wire brushor compressedair to removedirt and stub- born dried gum fibers.

ENGmNECOOUNG SYSTEM

Debris mayclog the engine'sair cool- ing system.Removeblower housingand cleanarea shownto preventoverheating and enginedamage.

Serviceair cleaner more often underdusty conditions.

1.Pull up on air filter cover handleand rotatetowardsengine.

2.Removecover.

3.Carefullyremoveair filter cartridgeand pre-cleanerfrom base.

4.Clean basecarefullyto preventdebris from falling into carburetor.

NOTE:If very dirty or damaged, replace cartridge.

5.Place new pre-cleanerand cartridge firmly in base.

6.Align tabs on coverwith slots in blower housingand replacecover.

7.Hook handleon cover and pushdown on handleto close.

MUFFLER

Clean out chaff and debris

mMPORTANT:Petroleumsolvents,such as kerosene,are notto be usedto clean the cartridge. They maycause deterio- rationof the cartridge. Do not oil car- tridge. Do not use pressurizedair to clean cartridge.

Cartridge

Inspect and replace corroded muffler and spark arrester (if equipped) as it could cre- ate a fire hazard and/or damage.

SPARK PLUG(S)

Replace spark plug(s) at the beginning of each mowing season or after every 100 hours of operation, whichever occurs first. Spark plug type and gap setting are shown in "PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS" section of this manual.

mN-UNE FUEL FmLTER

The fuel filter should be replaced once each season. If fuel filter becomes clogged, obstructing fuel flow to carbu- retor, replacement is required.

1.With engine cool, remove filter and plug fuel line sections.

2.Place new fuel filter in position in fuel

line with arrow pointing towards carbu- retor.

3.Be sure there are no fuel line leaks and clamps are properly positioned.

4.Immediately wipe up any spilled gaso- line.
