Using the Biamp Capabilities – BX-440H:

About Biamping: The Biamp High and Low outputs of the BX-440H and the BX-4115 allow for a number of ways

to “biamp” your system: that is, using two amplifier/speaker combinations to share the task of reproducing the full range of your bass. Biamping increases each amplifier’s efficiency by allowing it to “focus” on a certain frequency range, rather than operating full range. The results of biamping include cleaner sound and more output power than that of a single-amped system, which is especially useful during high volume live performances.

There are a number of different ways to use the BX-440H and the BX-4115 in biamp configurations. The examples on the following pages show several biamp possiblities – you may find others. Your Crate dealer can assist you in assembling the custom biamp ThunderBass rig to best suit your playing style and venue.

BX-440H, BX-4115 specifications

Crate Amplifiers has long been a recognized name in the music industry, known for delivering high-quality sound amplification solutions. Among their impressive lineup are the BX-4115 and BX-440H amplifiers, both designed to meet the diverse needs of musicians and audio enthusiasts alike.

The Crate BX-4115 is a powerful bass amplifier that combines portability with exceptional performance. It features a robust 300-watt output, making it suitable for both rehearsal spaces and larger venues. The included 15-inch speaker provides a deep, resonant bass tone, ensuring that low-end frequencies are projected clearly and effectively. One of the key features of the BX-4115 is its built-in compressor, which helps to smooth out dynamic range, resulting in a consistent and polished sound. Additionally, the amplifier comes equipped with a 5-band EQ, allowing users to shape their tone to suit their playing style and musical genre. Whether it’s funk, rock, or jazz, the BX-4115 can adapt to produce the desired sound.

On the other hand, the Crate BX-440H is a powerhouse head designed for serious bassists seeking versatility and high performance. It also offers a formidable 400-watt output, ensuring ample power for any performance setting. A standout feature of the BX-440H is its dual-channel design, which allows players to switch between two different tonal settings effortlessly. This is particularly useful for performers who utilize various effects and tones throughout their set. The integrated, detailed 7-band graphic EQ provides a wider range of tonal adjustments compared to traditional EQs, enabling players to fine-tune their sound.

Both amplifiers incorporate Crate’s innovative technology, which includes a dynamic limiter, protecting the speakers from damage while maintaining the integrity of the sound. Additionally, they feature a headphone output for silent practice, an aux input for playing along with backing tracks, and a direct output for easy interfacing with recording equipment or PA systems.

In conclusion, Crate Amplifiers’ BX-4115 and BX-440H stand out for their powerful performance, innovative features, and user-friendly design. Whether you’re a gigging musician or a practice-heavy hobbyist, these amplifiers provide the functionality and sound quality needed to enhance your musical performance. With their ability to deliver rich and dynamic tones combined with essential features, these Crate amplifiers make a valuable addition to any bassist's setup.
