PZM -11LLWR

he Crown® PZM®-11LLWR is a weather- Tresistant Pressure Zone Microphone®

with a balanced, line-level output. A plastic membrane inside the microphone protects the mic capsule from water damage. The mic mounts in a standard electrical outlet box. Applications include fast-food restaurants, outdoor intercoms, toll booths, bridges, theme park security, home automation, and so on.

The microphone can be plugged directly into a VCR line input — no costly mic preamp is needed. Output (via screw terminals) can be balanced or unbalanced. Powering is by 12-24V AC or DC. The unit can be factory-set for phantom powering by

special order, as a PZM-11LLWRS1.

In the PZM-11LLWR, frequencies below the voice range are rolled off to reduce traffic rumble. The high-frequency response is boosted to help ar- ticulation. Because of its tailored response and PZM construction, the PZM-11LLWR will pick up conversations or other desired sounds with extra clarity.

The unit is “weather resistant,” which means:

The microphone will work during and after rainfall.

The mic’s frequency response will change tempo- rarily if the membrane gets wet, but will return to normal when dry.

If water freezes on the membrane, the mic’s frequency response will change, but will return to normal when the ice melts and the membrane dries.

High-pressure water sprays directly on the membrane (through the louvered wall plate) may damage the membrane.

The microphone is not designed to be sub- merged.

Installation

1.Please refer to Figure 3 and locate all the parts shown. The electrical outlet box and cables are not included.

2.Run a 2-conductor shielded cable to the surface where you intend to install the microphone. In- stall a standard electrical outlet box there (2-inch minimum depth).

3.The PZM-11LLWR can be powered by 12-24V AC or DC.

From your power source, run a twisted pair power cable to the mic location. Run the power cable through the hole in the electrical box. Service the end of the power cable.

PZM-11LLWR specifications

The Crown Audio PZM-11LLWR is a professional-grade boundary microphone that exemplifies high-quality sound capture and versatile applications. Renowned for its exceptional performance, the PZM-11LLWR is designed for both live sound and studio settings, making it an ideal choice for recording environments, theatrical performances, and broadcast applications.

One of the standout features of the PZM-11LLWR is its unique boundary design. This microphone utilizes the Pressure Zone Microphone (PZM) technology, which allows it to pick up sound more effectively by positioning it close to a reflecting surface, such as a wall or a floor. The result is a natural sound pickup with reduced room reflections and increased clarity. This makes the PZM-11LLWR particularly effective for capturing vocal performances, acoustic instruments, and ambient sounds without the unwanted coloration sometimes associated with traditional miking techniques.

The PZM-11LLWR incorporates a low-noise preamplifier, ensuring that it delivers clean audio with minimal interference. The microphone offers a wide frequency response, typically ranging from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, which allows it to reproduce sound across the entire audio spectrum. Additionally, it features a high SPL (sound pressure level) handling capability, enabling it to capture loud sound sources without distortion.

Versatility is also a hallmark of the PZM-11LLWR. The microphone is equipped with a detachable cable, allowing for ease of installation and flexibility in various setups. With a cardioid pickup pattern, it effectively focuses on sound coming from the front while minimizing ambient noise from the sides and rear, further enhancing its performance in noisy environments.

The PZM-11LLWR is built to withstand the rigors of professional use, featuring a robust construction that ensures durability and longevity. Its compact and discreet design makes it easy to integrate into different settings without being obtrusive.

In conclusion, the Crown Audio PZM-11LLWR stands out as a premier choice for professionals seeking reliable, high-fidelity sound capture solutions. Its innovative PZM technology, excellent sound quality, and durable design make it a valuable asset in both live and studio environments, catering to the needs of musicians, sound engineers, and content creators alike. Whether capturing spoken word, music, or environmental sounds, the PZM-11LLWR delivers exceptional performance every time.
