Chapter 3 The Basics in 5 Short Tours
Use the Overtime Scheduler (and dont miss overtime!): Programssometimes start
before theyre supposed to and oftenend later than scheduled. With Recording Options,
you can padyour recordings to accountfor variations by using the Overtime
Scheduler.Seepage62.
Use the EXIT button: The EXIT button hides the status bar, guide, channelbanner, and
anything else that is notpart of the program.
Record two programs at the same time wit h Dual Tuner! Your DIRECTV Recorder has
two tunerswhich means it can record programs on two channels at the same time. To
activate both tuners, both Satellite In jacks on theback of the recorder must be connected
to cables from your satellite dish antenna (or a multiswitch), and you must choose the
Two cablesoption in of Satellite Dish Setup (described on page 25). Withdual tuner
you can watch more of your favorite programs, even w hen theyre on at the same time.
The Star and the Clapboard:You will occasionally see a yellow star ( ) on
DIRECTV Central. The star signals a new selectiont hatmay change the next time you
visit. Depending on the selection, it may allow you to record a program, watch a preview,
or go to a special Showcase. Dont worry if you pass up a particular new selection; keep
going back to DIRECTV Central until it appears again.
The clapboard iconon DIRECTV Central, or in a Showcaseindicates that a selection
includes a video preview. If the clapboard has a green triangle in it ( ), you can press
PLAY to play the video. If there is no green triangle, the current selection takes you to
another screen where youll find the actual video clip.
