Checking the safety chain brake
Do not work with the saw without rst checking the chain
brake!
Start the engine as described (make sure you have a
good footing, and place the saw on the ground in such a way
that the blade is free of contact).
Grasp the tubular handle rmly with one hand and hold
the rear handle with the other.
With the engine running at moderate speed, press the hand
guard (7) in the direction of the arrow with the back of your
hand until the chain brake engages. The chain should stop
immediately.
Immediately release the throttle and release the chain brake.
IMPORTANT: If the chain does not stop immediately when
you test the chain brake, do NOT use the saw! Take the
saw to a DOLMAR service center for repair.

Adjusting the carburetor
Carburetor adjustment is necessary for optimum engine
performance, for safer and more economical operation. The
engine should be warm, the air lter clean, and the chain
properly tensioned. Have carburetor adjustment done by
an authorised DOLMAR service center.
Never make any changes or adjustments to the basic set-
tings for the idle nozzle (L) or main nozzle (H), as this can
cause damage to the engine!
The carburetor is factory-adjusted for the air pressure at sea
level. At other elevations or under other conditions of weather,
temperature, or humidity, or when breaking in a new engine,
it may be necessary to make slight adjustments to the carbu-
retor.
Adjusting the idle speed
Before adjusting the carburetor, run the engine 3-5 minutes to
warm it up, but not at high speeds!
Use a screwdriver (0.16" blade) for the adjustment. The correct
size screwdriver is available as an accessory.
If the chain moves on idle although the throttle is not pressed,
the idle speed is too high and must be reduced. Screw out the
adjusting screw (9) counter-clockwise in small increments, until
the chain no longer moves.
If the engine is running unevenly (tends to go out), the idle speed
is too low and needs to be increased. Screw in the adjusting
screw (9) clockwise in small increments until the engine runs
evenly.
Important: the chain must not move in idle!
If these steps do not take care of the problem, do not use the
chainsaw! Take it to a DOLMAR service center.
