Using your Dyson handheld vacuum
Caution:
•Take caution not to engage battery release button during normal operation.
•Do not operate the Dyson handheld vacuum while checking for blockages.
PLEASE NOTE:
•Do not carry out any maintenance or repair work other than that shown in this Operating Manual or advised by the Dyson Helpline.
•This Dyson handheld vacuum is designed for domestic indoor and car use only. Do not use it whilst the car is in motion or while driving.
•Do not press down on the nozzle with excessive force when using the Dyson handheld vacuum as this may cause damage.
•If the motor overheats, the Dyson handheld vacuum will cut out automatically. Leave it to cool for at least an hour and check for blockages before restarting.
•Fine dirt such as flour or plaster dust should only be vacuumed in very small amounts.
•Consult your flooring manufacturer’s recommended instructions before vacuuming and caring for your flooring, rugs, and carpet.
TROUBLESHOOTING – DYSON HANDHELD VACUUM
Charged.
Less than one minute of charge remaining/Fully discharged.
Less than 37.4˚ F (3° C) – do not use.
Filter missing/Filter fitted incorrectly.
Emptying the clear bin
Caution:
•Switch off Dyson handheld vacuum and disconnect from charger before emptying the clear bin.
Please note :
•Empty as soon as the dirt reaches the level of the MAX mark – do not overfill. To release the dirt, push the button at the side of the clear bin as shown, see page 5.
•Do not use the Dyson handheld vacuum without the clear bin in place.
Cleaning the clear bin
Caution:
•Ensure the clear bin is completely dry before replacing. Please note :
•To remove the clear bin, push the release button on the underside of the Dyson handheld vacuum as shown.
•Use only cold water to clean the clear bin. Do not use detergents, polishes or air fresheners.
•Do not put the clear bin in a dishwasher.
Washing your filter
Caution:
•Switch ‘OFF’ and disconnect from charger before removing the filter.
•Ensure filter is completely dry before refitting to Dyson handheld vacuum. Please note :
•This Dyson handheld vacuum has one filter, located as shown, see pages 6 and 7. It is important to check your filter regularly and wash at least every month according to instructions, to maintain performance. Please leave to dry completely for
12 hours.
•The filter may require more frequent washing if vacuuming fine dust.
•Do not use detergents to clean the filter.
•Do not put the filter in the dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, oven, microwave or near an open flame.
Looking for blockages
Caution:
•Switch off the Dyson handheld vacuum and disconnect from charger before looking for blockages.
•Beware of sharp objects when clearing blockages.
•Refit all parts of the Dyson handheld vacuum securely before using. Please note :
•Clearing blockages is not covered by your Dyson handheld vacuum’s limited warranty. If any part of your Dyson handheld vacuum becomes blocked, it may overheat and then automatically shut off.
•Unplug the Dyson handheld vacuum and leave to cool down. Clear blockage before restarting.
CHARGING AND STORING YOUR DYSON HANDHELD VACUUM
Your Dyson handheld vacuum will turn off if the battery temperature is below 37.4° F (3° C). This is designed to protect the motor and battery of your product. Do not charge the Dyson handheld vacuum and then move it to an area with a temperature below 37.4˚ F (3˚ C) for storage purposes.

Battery Safety Instructions
Use only Dyson batteries and charging unit for this Dyson handheld vacuum. The battery is a sealed unit and under normal circumstances poses no safety concerns. In the unlikely event that liquid leaks from the battery do not touch the liquid and observe the following precautions:
Skin contact – can cause irritation. Wash with soap and water.
Inhalation – can cause respiratory irritation. Provide fresh air and seek medical advice.
Eye contact – can cause irritation. Immediately flush eyes thoroughly with water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.
Disposal – wear gloves to handle the battery and dispose of immediately following local ordinances or regulations.
Caution:
The battery used in this device may present a risk of fire or chemical burn if mistreated. Do not disassemble, short contacts, heat above 140° F (60°C), or incinerate. Replace battery with a Dyson battery only, use of any other battery may present a risk of fire or explosion. Dispose of used battery promptly. Keep away from children. Do not disassemble and do not dispose of in fire.
•The battery must be removed from the Dyson handheld vacuum before it is scrapped.
•The battery is to be disposed of safely.
•The Dyson handheld vacuum must be disconnected from the supply mains when removing the battery.
•Battery can be charged on or off the handheld vacuum. Take caution when removing the battery.

WHAT IS COVERED
Your Dyson handheld vacuum is warranted against original defects in material and workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase, when used for private household purposes in accordance with the Operating Manual. This warranty provides, at no extra cost to you, all labour and parts to place your handheld vacuum in proper operating condition during the warranty period. This warranty is subject to the following terms:
WHAT IS NOT COVERED
Dyson Canada Limited shall not be liable for costs incurred as a result of:
•Handheld vacuums purchased from an unauthorized dealer.
•Clearing blockages from your handheld vacuum.
•Carpet damage due to use not in accordance with flooring manufacturer’s instructions or failure to turn brush bar off when necessary.
•Use of parts not in accordance with the Operating Manual.
•Careless operation or handling, misuse and/or lack of maintenance or use not in accordance with the Operating Manual.
•External sources such as weather.
•Repairs or alterations carried out by unauthorized parties or agents.
•Use of the handheld vacuum other than for normal domestic purposes within the country of purchase, e.g. for commercial or rental purposes.
•Use of parts and accessories other than those produced or recommended by Dyson Canada Limited.
•Normal wear and tear, including normal wearing parts such as clear bin, filter, brush bar, power cord, and reduction in battery discharge time due to battery age or use (or where external damage or abuse is diagnosed).
•Use of parts and accessories other than those produced or recommended by Dyson Canada Limited.
WARRANTY SERVICE

•Before service can take place, the terms of the warranty require that you contact the Dyson Helpline with your model name/number, serial number, date and place of purchase. Please keep your purchase receipt in a safe place to ensure you have this information. The serial number is found on the vacuum’s rating plate, which is on the main body of the handheld vacuum behind the filter.
•All work will be carried out by Dyson Canada Limited or their authorized agents.
•Any replaced defective parts will become property of Dyson Canada Limited.
•Service under this warranty will not extend the period of this warranty.

This limitation is not allowed by some States or provinces and so this limitation may not apply to you.
•Your remedy for breach of this warranty is limited to the warranty service described above. Dyson Canada Limited will not be liable for any consequential damages or incidental damages you may incur in connection with your purchase and use of your handheld vacuum. This limitation is not allowed by some States or provinces and so this limitation may not apply to you.
•This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights which vary by State or Province.
•This warranty is not transferable.
•This warranty is valid only in Canada.
SUMMARY OF COVER
•The warranty becomes effective at the date of purchase (or the date of delivery if this is later).
•You must provide proof of delivery/purchase before any work can be carried out on your handheld vacuum. Without this proof, any work carried out will be chargeable. Please keep your receipt or delivery note.
•All work will be carried out by Dyson Canada Limited or its authorized agents.
•Any parts which are replaced will become the property of Dyson Canada Limited.
•The repair or replacement of your handheld vacuum under warranty will not extend the period of warranty.
•The warranty provides benefits which are additional to and do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
