OPERATORSAFETY
SDress properly. Always wear safety glasses
or similar eye protection when operating, or
performingmaint enance, on your unit (safety
glassesare available). Eyeprotection should
be marked Z87.
SAlwayswear face or dust mask if operation is
dusty.
SAlwayswear heavy, long pants, long sleeves,
boots,and gloves. Wearingsafety leg guards
is recommended.
SAlwayswear foot protection. Donot go bare-
foot or wear sandals. Stayclear of spinning
line.
SSecurehair above shoulder length. Secureor
removeloose clothing or clothing withloosely
hanging ties, straps, tassels, etc. They can
be caught in moving parts.
SBeing fully covered also helps protect you
from debrisand piecesof toxic plants thrown
by spinning line.
SStay Alert. Do not operate this unit when you
aretired, ill, upset or under the influence of al-
cohol, drugs,or medication. Watch what you
are doing; use common sense.
SWear hearing protection.
SNever start or run inside a closed room or
building. Breathingexhaust fumes can kill.
SKeep handles free of oil and fuel.
UNIT / MAINTENANCE SAFETY

apart and cause serious injury.
STurnengine off and disconnect spark plug be-
foreperforming maintenance except carbure-
tor adjustments.
SInspect unit before use. Look for and replace
damaged or loose parts before each use.
Makesure all handles, guards, and f asteners
are in place and securely fastened. Lookfor
andrepair fuel leaks before use. Keep in good
working condition.
SReplace trimmer head that is chipped,
cracked, broken, or damaged in anyother
way before using the unit.
SMaintainunit according to recommended pro-
cedures. Keepcutting line at proper length.
SUse only 0.115” diameter Weed EaterR
brand cut length line (see REPLACING
THE LINE). Never use wire, rope, string,
etc.
SMake sure unit is assembled correctly as
shown in this manual.
SMake carburetor adjustments with lower
end supported to prevent line fromcontact-
ing any object.
SKeepot hers away when making carburetor
adjustments.
SUse only recommended Weed EaterRac-
cessories and replacement parts.
SHave all maintenance and service not ex-
plainedin this manual performed by an aut ho-
rized service dealer.
FUEL SAFETY
SMix and pour fuel outdoors.
SKeep away from sparks or flames.
SUse a container approved for fuel.
