ALWAYSUSE:
Cut from your right to your left.
NOTE: Keep left and right hands on grips
during operation of unit as shown above to
avoid covering air intake holes located onun-
derside of upper handle.
WARNING:Al ways wear eye protec-
tion. Never lean over the trimmer head.
Rocksor debris can ricochet or be thrown into
eyes and face and cause blindness or other
serious injury.
Do not run the engine at a higher speed than
necessary. The cutting line will cut efficiently
when the engine is run at less than full throttle.
At lowerspeeds, t hereis lessengine noise and
vibration.
Alwaysrelease the thrott le trigger and allow the
engine to return to idle speed when not cutting.
Tostop engine :
SRelease the throttle trigger.
SMove the ON/OFF switch to the OFF posi-
tion.
MAINTENANCE
WARNING: Disconnect the spark
plug before performing maintenance except
for carburetor adjustments.

CHECK FOR DAMAGED OR

WORN PARTS

Contact an authorized service dealer for re-
placement of damaged or worn part s.
SON/OFF Switch --Ensure ON/OFF switch
functions properly by moving theswitch to
the OFF position. Make sure engine stops ;
then restart engine and continue.
SFuel Tank --Disc ontinue use of unit if fuel
tank shows signs of damage or leaks.
SDebris Shield -- Discontinue use of unit if
debris shield is damaged.

INSPECT AND CLEAN UNIT AND

LABELS

SAfter each use, inspect complete unit for
loose or damaged parts. Cleanthe unit and
labels using a damp cloth with a mild deter-
gent.
SWipe off unit with a clean dry cloth.

CLEAN THE AIR INTAKESCREEN

Theair intake sc reenallows air to circulate to
keepthe engi ne functioning properl y and pre-
vents debris from entering the engine.

tempting to clean t he intake screen. DONOT
USE GARDEN HOSE OR PRESSURE
WASHER TO CLEAN THIS UNIT!
SClean the intake screen periodically witha
nylon brush.

CLEAN THE AIR FILTER

A dirty air filter decreases engine perfor-
mance and increases fuel consumption and
harmful emissions. Alwaysclean with engine
stopped. Cl ean filter after every 5 hours of op-
eration.
1. Clean the air filter cover and the area
aroundthe cover to prevent dirt from falling
into the carburetor chamber when the cov-
er is removed.
2. Remove parts asillustrated. Itis not nec-
essary to remove the air filter hose from
the air filter cover.
NOTE: If the air filter hose becomes unat-
tached from the cover or lower handle during
cleaning, reattach bef ore attempting to restart
the engine or operate the unit.

NOTE: Donot clean filterin gasoline or oth-
er flammable solvent to avoid creating a fire
hazard or producing harmful evaporative
emissions.
3. Wash the filter insoap and water.
4. Allow filter todry.
5. Add 10 -- 15 drops of oil to the filter;
squeeze the filter to distribute oil.
NOTE: FILTER MUST BE OILED!
6. Replace parts.
