Logging In

Using a Default User Account

IfthisisthefirsttimeyouareloggingintotheDSeriesswitch,orifthedefaultuseraccountshave
notbeenadministrativelychanged,proceedasfollows:
1. Attheloginprompt,enteroneofthefollowingdefaultusernames:
roforReadOnlyaccess.
rwforReadWrit eaccess.
adminforSuperUseraccess.
2. PressENTER.ThePassword promptdisplays.
3. LeavethisstringblankandpressENTER.Theswitchinformationandpromptdisplaysas
showninFigure 11.

Using an Administratively Configured User Account

Iftheswitch’sdefaultuseraccountsettingshavebeenchanged,proceedasfollows:
1. Attheloginprompt,enteryouradministrativelyassignedusernameandpressENTER.
2. AtthePassword prompt,enteryourpasswordandpressENTER.

CLI Command Defaults Descriptions

Eachcommanddescriptioninthisguideincludesasectionentitled“Defaults”whichcontains
differentinformationfromthefactorydefaultsettingsontheswitchdescribedinTabl e 11.The
sectiondefinesCLIbehavioriftheuserentersacommandwithouttypingoptionalparameters
(indicatedbysquarebrackets[]).Forcommandswithoutoptionalparameters,thedefaults
sectionlists“None”.Forcommandswithoptionalparameters,thissectiondescribeshowtheCLI
respondsiftheuseroptstoenteronlythekeywordsofthecommandsyntax.Figure12provides
anexample.
Note: Users with Read-Write (rw) and Read-Only access can use the set password command
(page 2-5) to change their own passwords. Administrators with Super User (su) access can use
the set system login command (page 2-4) to create and change user accounts, and the set
password command to change any local account password.
