Raisingthemowerdeckforserviceor
maintenancerelyingsolelyonmechanical
orhydraulicjackscouldbedangerous.The
mechanicalorhydraulicjacksmaynotbe
enoughsupportormaymalfunctionallowing
theunittofall,whichcouldcauseinjury.
DoNotrelysolelyonmechanicalorhydraulic
jacksforsupport.Useadequatejackstands
orequivalentsupport.
5.Removethereartiresfromthemachine.
6.Removeanydebrisfromthebrakearea.
7.Rotatethedrivewheelreleasehandletothe
“released”position.RefertotheDriveWheel
ReleaseValvessectioninOperation.
8.Disengagetheparkbrake.
9.Holdthethreadedrodendwithatoolandloosen
thelocknutawayfromthestandardnut(see
Figure31).DoNotallowthecabletoturnwhen
thenutsarebeingloosened.

10.Removeallslackfromcablebypullingonthe
caliperleverarmwithamediumamountofforce.
Usinghandsandngersonly,pushthecaliper
leverarmtoengagethebrakepadsontherotor
untiltheleverstops.Whileholdingthelever
atthestoppedposition,usetheotherhandor
ngerstopulltheslackoutofthecablethreaded
endthroughtheswivel.Spinthestandardnut
againsttheswivel(seeFigure31).
Notetheorderofthestandardnutandlocknut
(nonutonthecableanchorsideoftheswivel).
11.Releasethecaliperleverandcable.Turnthe
wheelhubbyhandinbothdirectionsrelativeto
thecaliper;slightdragofthecaliperpadonthe
wheelhubisdesired.
12.Ifthereisnomovementbetweenthehubandthe
caliperthenbackoffthestandardnutoneturn
fromtheswivelandrepeatstep11(driverelease
valvesmustbeinthe“released”positiononthe
hydros).
13.Ifthehubmovesveryfreelyrelativetothecaliper,
thentightenthestandardnutoneturnagainstthe
swivelandrepeatstep11.
14.Oncestep11isachieved,holdthethreadedrod
endwithatoolandtightenthelocknutagainst
thestandardnut.DoNotallowthecabletoturn
whenthenutsaretightened.
15.Afteradjustingthebrakesonbothsidesofthe
mower,cyclethebrakehandleaminimumofsix
timestoallowthecabletoseatintothesheath
andmountingtabs.
16.Readjustbothbrakesfollowingtheprocedurein
steps10through14.
17.Ifabrakecomponenthasbeenremovedor
replaced,seethestepsbelow;otherwiseproceed
tostep18.

A.Cleartheareaofanyammablematerial
