OCCURRENCE SOLUTION
Louder sound levels whenever
freezer is ON
• Modern freezers have increased s torage capabilities and more even
temperatures. They require a high efficiency compressor. When t he
surrounding noise level is low, you might hear the com presso r running
while it cools the interior.
Louder sound levels when
compressor comes ON
• Free zer operates at higher pressures dur ing the st art of the ON c ycle.
This is normal. Sound will level off o r dis appear as freezer continues to
run.
Popping or cracking sound when
compressor comes ON
• Meta l parts under go expansi on and contr action, as in hot water pi pes.
This is normal. Sound will level off o r dis appear as freezer continues to
run.
Bubbling or gurgling sound, like
water boiling
• Ref rigerant (us ed to cool f reezer) is c irculatin g throug hout the s ystem.
This is normal.
Vibrating or rattling noise • Freezer is not level. It rocks on the floor when it is moved slightly.
Level the unit. Refer to “Leveling” in th e First Steps section.
• Floor is uneven or weak. Freezer rock s on the floor when it is m oved
slightly. Be sure floor can ade quately support freezer. Level the
freezer by putting wood or metal shims under part of the freezer.
• Freezer is touching the wall. Level the freezer or m ove f reeze r sli ghtly.
Refer to “Leveling” in the First Steps section.
Moisture forms on inside freezer
walls
• W eather is hot and hum id, which incr eases intern al rate of f rost build-
up. This is normal.
• Door is slightly open. See OCCURRENCE “Door Problems” .
• Door is kept open too long, or is op ene d t oo f req uent ly. Open the door
less often.
Moisture forms on outside of
freezer
• Door is slightly open, caus ing the cold air from inside the free zer to
meet warm moist air from outside. See OCCURRENCE “Door
Problems”.
Odor in freezer • Interior needs t o be cleaned. Clean in terior with sponge, warm water
and baking soda.
• Foods with strong odors are in the freezer. C ov er the food tightly.
Door will not close • Freezer is not level. It rocks on the floor when it is moved slightly. This
condition can force the cabinet out of square an d misalign the door.
Refer to “Leveling” in the First Steps secti on.
• Floor is uneven or weak. Freezer rock s on the floor when it is m oved
slightly. Be sure floor can ade quately support freezer. Level the
freezer by putting wood or metal shims under the f reezer or brace the
floor supporting the freezer.
Light bulb is not on • Light bulb is burn ed out. Follow direc tions under “Inter ior Light” in the
“Freezer Features” section.
• No electric current is reaching the freezer. See OCCURRENCE
“Freezer does not run”.
