◆Focusing on a moving subject ◆
If you press the Shutter button down halfway to focus on the subject at the starting point A, the subject
may no longer be in focus when it reaches point Bwhere you want to take the shot.
In such situations, focus on point Bbeforehand and then lock the focus so that it does not shift.
This feature is also useful for photographing fast-moving subjects that are difficult to focus on.
Focus on and the focus is wrong at . Focus on and lock the focus.

◆Quality and flash ◆
When a Continuous shooting mode is selected, the Flash mode is forcibly set to “v” Suppressed flash. In
a Long-period continuous shooting with 1280 ×960-pixel mode, the quality is also forcibly set to “1”.
However, when the mode is changed back to normal photography, the flash setting specified before
continuous shooting was selected is restored. Likewise, when a Long-period continuous shooting with
1280 ×960-pixel mode has been used, the quality setting is also restored to its previous value.
◆To obtain the optimum brightness ◆
Adjust the exposure compensation according to the level of brightness or darkness in the image.
■Guide to compensation
iBacklit portraits: +2 steps to +4 steps (+0.7 EV to +1.3 EV)
iVery bright scenes (such as snowfields) and highly reflective subjects: +3 steps (+1 EV)
iShots made up predominantly of sky: +3 steps (+1 EV)
iSpotlit subjects, particularly against dark backgrounds: –2 steps (–0.7 EV)
iScenes with low reflectivity, such as shots of pine trees or dark foliage: –2 steps (–0.7 EV)
hWhen the subject appears too bright
Try a negative (–) compensation setting.
This will make the overall image darker.
hWhen the subject appears too dark
Try a positive (+) compensation setting.
This will make the overall image brighter.
